Choose a real Publisher document
A Publisher file is not a PDF with a different extension. This desk passes a supported PUB document to the Publisher importer in an office engine, then uses its drawing-document PDF exporter. The produced PDF is opened with a separate parser before it appears in the completed report. A filename change alone never counts as conversion.
Choose a PUB file no larger than 20 MiB, or select the real Apache POI example. The preflight reads the compound document’s root Contents signature and accepts the Publisher 2002-and-later 0x2C format family. The legacy 97/98/2000 0x22 family is refused before loading the engine: verified old-format examples lost table content. The importer still has to support the features of an accepted document; a recognized version is not a fidelity guarantee.
Open the isolated local engine
Enable the external engine download option and start conversion. A separate same-origin window provides the isolation and shared memory needed by the browser office engine. Keep that window and the original KitForma tab open. If your browser blocks the window, use the visible Open the isolated converter link beneath the form.
The first run may download approximately 136 MB of runtime assets from the official ZetaOffice CDN. Browser caching can reduce later transfers, but this is not guaranteed. The provider receives normal asset-request metadata such as your IP address and browser request headers. The selected document is passed between your browser tabs and processed in local engine memory, rather than uploaded as a conversion request.
Keep the result and the original
The helper returns the generated PDF to the main tab and clears its temporary input and output files. The main page offers the converted PDF, an unchanged copy of the original PUB and a conversion report containing page dimensions and the observed engine build when available. The helper closes after the handoff.
Review the PDF before sharing it. This is a conversion workflow, not a native Publisher editor or a promise of identical typography. The office runtime is downloaded from a mutable latest CDN path controlled by its provider. Availability, future compatibility and continued free access can change independently of KitForma, so retain your original file and a desktop conversion option for essential work.
